It's been awhile since I've posted... I had a post here about 5 days ago that go lost somewhere in the drafting process which listed about what has been going on in the last couple of weeks with training and my bike fitting.

Today was a hot, humid, and windy day. I didn't get a chance to bike, but I did do a 40min swim at the pool today. I swam roughly about 1km again today.
I've currently got some cupping going on with my shoulders and legs. I'll probably look like I fought with an octopus when this is all over - said and done.
Recently, I've been looking into how to nutritionally sustain myself with the amount of exercise that I've been doing. I do want to burn some calories (belly fat), but I do want to maintain/building muscle. Counting calories and watching what I eat and drink has been actually really beneficial in slimming down, but maintaining the muscle mass. So really - More veggies. Less processed carbs. More water. Less alcoholic and sugary drinks. More fruits. More protein. Things seem like it is working pretty good so far. Currently, I'm doing the swimming, the biking, and a bunch of KB (kettle bell work outs). I'm hoping that's going to be enough for this ride down.
Speaking of calories and watching what I eat... I'm going to have to watch what I eat tonight since I'm taking my mom out to dinner for a belated Mother's Day. We're going to an Italian restaurant called Scaddabush. Never been, but I hear decent things about it. So we'll see how things go. Maybe I'll carb load tonight and see how I do for my 40-60km ride tomorrow night.
I've booked a bike fitting on May 29 to make sure that my bike fits me properly. Recently on my rides, I've been experiencing some low back/knee pain and some minor cramping. I think I want to make sure my bike fits me well and I'm as efficient as I possibly can. I'll post more on that when the time comes.
Some good stretches that have been super helpful for me post-rides have been those calf stretches, quad stretches, and those low back stretches. I just feel less sore the next day. I've also been needing to book an appointment with a colleague who can treat me with acupuncture and chiropractic. My body definitely is going to need a tune up before going on this ride.
Back tomorrow to update you on my 40-60km ride tomorrow night.
My road bike journey to Niagara Falls on June 10-11, 2017 (so far)...
Biking has been a really fun sport that I'm so happy that I've been able to be part of since August 2016. I bought my first "starter" road bike - Trek Domane 2.0 with a Tiagra group set - because I wasn't exactly sure if this was a sport that I'm really interested in pursuing in the long term. BUT riding all last fall has been such a fun and an amazing experience that I really want to pursue it much more than I've ever expected (despite the cramping, sunburns, bad tanlines, deyhydration, and hitting "the wall").
